Effects

  • Decrease in the Dependent Population (the dependency ratio)
  • Improved public services, more money to spend in important areas
  • Changes in roles within the family, eg- more dual earner couples

 Birth Rate- Number of live births per 1000 of the population per year General Fertility Rate- Number of live births per 1000 women of childbearing age (15-44) per year Infant Mortality Rate- The number of deaths of children under the age of 1 per 100 of the population per year Dependent Population- The section of the population which is not in work and is supported by those who are, (productive population) such as under 18s, pensioners, the unemployed and those on benefits
