Belief in an afterlife (heaven/hell)

Advantages

  • re-assurance
  • they know they will be judged = lead a good life

Disadvantages

  • false hope?
  • bad afterlife - hell
  • restrictive life - so they can go to heaven

Evaluation

I think it's down to personal opinion whether you believe in an afterlife but you have to be careful and weigh-up whether something is worth doing over the fact you believe about the after-life, God might judge it different to what you thought!
