Appeasement

Advantages

Germany had a genuine reason to complain about the TofV
WW1 - British public wanted to avoid another war at all costs so it was popular with the public - By 1939 they realised that Hitler couldn't be trusted
Economic depression - couldn't afford a rearmament programme
No LoN - other means of peace-making
Communism - made a barrier between Soviet Russia and the West

Disadvantages

Hitler couldn't be trusted
Britain looked weak
Betraying lands protected by the TofV
Didn't prevent War
Increased Hitler's power and strength

Evaluation

In conclusion I think that appeasement was a good idea because Britain were not ready for War economically, politically and mentally so it bought time and kept peace in Europe for another year.
