- Flemming found an antispetic that could kill most bacteria, however he wanted to find one for Staphylococcal. In 1928, he saw that on one of his experimental dishes a mould grew on the dish of Staphococcoli. Around the mould the bacteria had stopped growing. He had found Penicillium notatum. It produced a substance called Penicillin. However he could not prove his theory.
- Florey and Chain resumed his work nearly thirty years later. They made a project to produce a large amount of Penicillin. They couldn't get a grant from the British government so Florey went to America. They gave a grant when they joined the war.
