when making a dance what is a motif ?

a group of movements used to help form a structure when you're choreographing... it can be anything from one movement (although examiners don't really like that :P) to a long, complicated phrase.

A secton of a dance which is repeated throughtout the dance at different stages but like you can change little bits in each one to make it unique such as retrospectice, cannon etc
