No problem! So long as you are in year 11 and you are doing the edexcel exam (check if you aren't sure), this is the main bulk of what you need to know:

AoS 1 - Structure of Western Classical Music:

Binary and Ternary Form, Rondo, Theme and Variation Form, Ground Bass and the 3 periods of music (Baroque, Classical and Romantic). Other background stuff that is really useful is: ornaments, general instrumentation in the periods of music, cadences, intervals (between 2 notes) and the general dynamics, tempo, mood and articulation (eg Italian words for the dynamics, tempo and mood).

I hope that helps-I know it looks like a lot, but it's not too bad! Let me know if you need any more details-most of this stuff is included on the quiz I made-AoS1, so use that to test roughly what you know. Sometime soon, I will do a more indepth one for each individual aspect if you would like!

Hope that helps,

Jamie

Hey, what are the questions like for popular music? are they essay based? thanks

If you are doing edexcel, it is many short 1/2 mark questions throughout, and then a larger 12 mark question at the end.

The 12 mark question; you get 2 choices from different AOS, so don't panic!
