Are you refering to the Permanent Indian Frontier - if so then I think I know...

this is about the American white vs native indian conflicts. it is about the wars they fought for land gold and territory etc.

I thought it was when the whites promised the Plains Indians a load of land (which they obviously broke) - the permanent indian frontier - 1832

I'm sure the answer I got is the right one but in a way Abbas M.M is kinda right - because the whites get breaking treaties/promises it ended up with conflict/wars etc

Ok - In 1803 the US president (Jefferson at the time) bought Louisiana from France. To most white Americans tis area was just a desert so to solve the problem of having too many Indians in the East, the US Government started a new policy of moving the Indians onto this land. By 1825 most Eastern Indians were moving onto it. By 1832 the US Government said that all ofthe Great Plains belonged to the Indians-the Plains would be one great big reservation for them. This would be called the Permanent frontier

(of course this promise was broken in about 1850 I think)
