Women throughout the book are shown as dangerous and referred to as '*********'  and George is constantly warning Lennie about Curley's wife. Curley's wife is women deprived of human attention and is lonely and desperate.

The reputation of women throughout the book clearly shows us why, even though C's wife constantly tries to 'befriend' the men she is turned away.Society is literally against her and her 'kind'. Curley's wife is treated as nothing and not even given a name of her own but rather referred to as Curley's property. But even though the position of women throughout the book was low they still have a higher status than Negroes.

Curley's wife is a character that shows the true sorrow of broken dreams and because of her past she acts almost like a rebellious child against her husband because of the neglect. She wants to be noticed and treated well like she feels she should be. Her dream of becoming a movie star is still there in her mind and this affects her behaviour.

She sees herself to be better than the ranch folk and doesn't quite understand why they won't notice her, even though she tries hard with her clothing etc. This desperation causes her ultimate downfall. She finally finds a man that speaks to her, that has a conversation with her but her relief and need to let out all the thoughts she'd been containing blinds her from seeing the warning signs of Lennie's childish behaviour.

Hope this helped! Sorry I rambled a bit! :)
