If you swap the negative and positive terminals over, the current will flow the opposite way. So for example, if you have a magmet and you switch the negative and positive sides, the magnet will have opposite effects; one side will attract, one side will reflect. This is the same for terminals, meaning if you switch the negative and positive terminals, the current will alternate between flowing clockwise and flowing anti-clockwise!
