For women, "The Glory of Women" (I think by Sassoon but it could be by Owen), for patriotism you want pre and early war poetry e.g. Tennyson's charge of the light brigade. Sassoon and owen are really good for realities of war. Exposure would be good for mental consequences as it is about standing still (which many psychologists believe caused shell shock)
