CAD stands for Computer Aided Design.

It may be used in large scale manufacturing as designers are able to draw new products on the computer. It allows the designers to get more accurate measurements (compared to if they were designing products by hand) and they are also able to veiw the new products as 3D images. (email may also be included under this umbrella as designs for new products are able to be sent to various locations across the country in a matter of seconds)

It may be costly as the programme would have to be purchased by the designers although in the long term it woul dbe quicker and more reliable than drawing new designs by hand.

Hope this helps and is what you wanted to know :)

Computer Aided Design used to design components and things digitally which can then be used to make a model of it by using CAM
