what type of questions do you have to answer for a prose exam?

I take it that you mean the Latin literature part? They'll just ask you questions like in English Lit, like what part of the sentence conveys anger, etc. and then you should pick up on something like alliteration e.g turbidus hic caeno vastaque voragne gurges. 

The use of the alliterative 'v' emphasises Virgil's description of the wild river of Tartarus.

Short comprehension questions, short translation questions, mini essays on the style of the writing and how the author conveys things to the reader, and a final mini essay and all the texts you have learned.
