what are the side effects of using a dialysis machine?
Well, for haemodialysis the patient has to have a four hour session three times a week, usually in hospital, so they have to plan their life around these appointments, which is a disadvantage
Also, if you are having haemodialysis your diet and amount you drink has to be restricted, for example avoiding foods that are high in potassium.
With peritoneal dialysis the main disadvantage is you have to do it every day, and there is increased risk of infection of the peritoneum. Another possible side effect of peritoneal is weight gain.
I hope this helps :)
Stressful and cause psychological harm from being attached on a machine all day long and can be expensive if done privately.
