Ways To Keep My Concentration While Revising ?

  • 0 votes

Well When Revising I Easily Get Disturbed And Start To Unnecessary Things, I Think This Is Because The Way I Revise Bores Me So My Mind Diverts... Does Anyone Have Any Tips On How To Keep My Concentration Or Do Activities That Will Keep Me Focused ? Thank You...

Put the radio on. Then every so often you kinda focus in and out if you know what I mean. Also, it means you can have revision breaks for 3minutes and 27seconds or whatever :P Works sooo well.

Take regular breaks. Drink plenty of water to keep hydrated. Set yourself targets e.g. to read all of topic 1 by lunch time. Also your more alert in the morning so try to aim to get more done in the morning.

Change the way in which you revise, for instance, reading, writing notes, recording and listening to your notes, make posters and put up post-it notes with key words in different places like on the fridge or on a mirror.

I literally sit phone off, tv off and music off for five hours. 5-10pm it removes all destractions, I'm not good at focusing so this really helps. At first I thought it sounded like a crazy thing but by ten it will be hard for your brain to learn anymore so its nice to put your phone on and get yourself back up to date with whats happening, I put it into context and decided that a bit of time without my phone was worth the feeling in the exam when I know what too do.

Don't stress yourself though, have breaks and make sure that your taking in what you have learn't, there's no point revising if its in one side and out the other.

So good luck in your exams, hope they go well for you, and that this idea helps :)

Make sure all uneccassary devices are not within the room you are revising in, e.g phone, ipod, laptop (unless using it to revise) TV etc.

Listening to music may help you but it will have a negative effect and you will not be able to absorb stuff as quickly.

Make sure you have lots of food and drink with you so you will be able to revise without having to get more. Do not revise more than 2 hours at a time. When taking a 30min-1hour break try to make sure that you do not go on computer games or watch tv as it can have a negative effect on your brain and you will not be able to concentrate during your next session.

Well just imagine August when you get the results. Surely, you wouldn't want anything below an A. And just imagine how you'd feel if you've failed!

(Sorry, pessimistic, I know! But does help...)
