Work out the Potential Energy of the roller coaster at the top. At the minimum point of the coaster all Potential Energy will be converted to Kinetic Energy. (In theory - in reality some energy would be lost due to heat/sound)
The thing that carries the coaster forwards is its momentum (P=mv)
To find the velocity of the coaster before the momentum, rearrange the Kinetic energy equation (again remembering the PE is converted into KE) - KE = 1/2 x mass x velocity^2
