In the presence of an input of hydrogen (H2) to a special platinum catalyst it is possible to crack high molecular weight hydrocarbons into low molecular weight saturated compounds. Given the information below - a) how much product is produced per 100 kmol of hydrocarbon feed? b) How much hydrogen is consumed on this basis? (Solution 51.9 kmol) Does this chemistry of this process seem to be reasonable?
