Should I take History or Physics for AS?

Hey everyone, I'm literally can't decide whether to take physics or history for alevel. I'm pretty sure I want to do medicine as a career, so my other three definite choices are biology, chemistry and maths which I know I will carry on to A2.

I just can't decide which fourth AS to take; history or physics. I guess physics would be playing it safe for medicine as I would be doing four sciences, but then I have also heard that uni's like it if you also do one different subject such as history. What do you guys think?

For Medicine, they ask for the obvious Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. So as long as you have those you'll be ok. Your 4th AS/A Level shouldn't really be on the 'black-list' so what uni's would consider to be "soft" such as Media Studies (though AQA seems to be ok) or Business Studies. But both Physics and History are very strong subjects so just choose the one you enjoy and can do well in. If I were you, I would take History as it's slightly less work that Physics and it also displays essay writing skills that you wouldn't develop in a subject such as Physics. But either way, it's your choice.

I do English Literature but I have friends who do History. Either one is just as good as the other as they're both highly regarded by uni's. English Literatute involves two novels and an anthology of roughly 16 poems whilst History is, well history of a war to country depending on your spec.

If you enjoy reading, then English Lit. If you enjoy history but not much reading then History. Also know if you don't really enjoy them at the end you can always leave them as an AS. (but try and aim for at least a B).

Thanks so much ClainDeLune Darlington, that's what I originally thought but then only recently feared that I was making the wrong decision by not doing all sciences. Previously my other problem was choosing between English Literature or History as I love them both. Do you know which one would be better?

english because it is respected a lot more than history, which is really not that academic, and if you really want to learn about history you can always do that in your spare time?
