Should I drop biology AS?

  • 0 votes

I'm doing maths, further maths, chemistry, physics, biology and Polish for AS level. I'm not really enjoying biology and I find it pretty boring, although I'm getting As and A*s in it so far. I want to study physics at university. Should I drop it, or wait until the end of AS? I'm not finding it an overload, although I'm doing 6 subjects

i better wait after the exam results, after your first january exam you will realise whether you should continue with Biology

and if biologyn is boring, why not make it fun for a change

i agree with ruby , as i think you should wait until you have sat your january exam.

hey i felt the same way about my chemsitry alevel at the start of AS, but now i would never drop chemisrty.  if its that boring just try new revision techniques, am sure there is one that suits you and biology.

In my opinion, you should hold on to it since you are getting good grades in it, so it shouldn't really be interfering with the studying of the other subjects. I reckon you do'nt need to try to hard in Biology to succeed in it, so I think you should continue studying it. Try different learning techniques, i.e. podcasts, making up biology songs (for revision or remembering hard things), watching Powerpoint presentations, reading current Biology-related articles, etc).

Remember, It s just another grade to increase you future prospects, to add on your UCAS application, and your CV. A little bit of suffering (because you find it boring) goes a long way. YOU CAN DO IT!

Obviously if your struggling and its taking over your life, then drop it immediately.

Good luck, tell us in due time if you decided to hold on to it, or drop it :)

Firstly, wow you must be really clever! Secondly, sure drop it, my brother dropped history at AS and know he is doing better in his other subjects and doesn't regret it as he is doing psychology and politics at university now. Also in my opinion if you drop it you will probably have more spare time during which you could develop a new interest or hobby that could make you sound more interesting to universities (mind they would be stupid not to accept you) or even do some charity work. That's what i would do anyway :)

Definatley agree that you should stick at it for now. Exams are only in 2 months and if your get an A like Re-Re said it would be AMAZING for your CV.

Anyways, best of luck everyone!
