Sophie,

i cant seem to reply on your question. But I did the exam last year and it is split into two main topic areas; Russia in Revolution and Stalin's Russia. this is if you are doing D3 and D4 like i did.

for Russia in Revolution the main areas are:

1905 revolution

1917 revolution

reasons for collapse of the tsarist regime

Nicholas as a leader

the Bolshevik party (trotsky and the red army, role in the revolutions, lenin and his speeches etc)

failings of the provisional govt (opposition, failure to pull out of the war etc)

also think of the Bolshevik policies at this time such as the NEP or the dissolution of the Dumas as this is always handy in the exam.

Stalin's Russia main points are:

power struggle (eg with trotsky, bukharin etc)

five year plans

the great terror

collectivisation

think thats everything, hope this helps :)
