# Ray diagrams

I am revising for AQA GCSE P3 and am trying to learn the light ray rules for mirrors, lenses etc. Just wondering how people have learned these and if anyone has a link to practice questions?

Thank you! :D

i think you need to learn 4 main things whether the image is

• real or virtual
• far or near
• inverted or the right way around
• diminished or larger

you can usually tell these by looking at where the new image is formed is it behing the eye:real

or is the arrow bigger than original object arrow:larger

is after the object:far

etc etc

Try this website:

just remember that with mirrors the rays reflect - concave they reflect in, convex they reflect out. With lenses they appear on the other side - concave they diverge out (and you have to dot them back) and with convex they converge in.

Hope this helps =)
