Quitting German IGCSE, Will good unis take me?

In a short and concise sentence of my situation is "I HATE GERMAN". I hate German with a passion. I dont hate any subject apart from German. Ive always had a strong distaste for languages even though I am fluent at English and Cantonese. My school makes it compulsory for you to do a MFL (Modern Foreign Language) and for some reason I picked German..... biggest mistake of my life. I dont mind French but its way to late to swtich, my GCSEs are in 2013. Im not looking for answers like "continue on with it, itll benefit you". I am determined to quit as I am predicted a U but my teacher sees potential even though I absolutely have no talent/potential in languages. There may be one positive of learning a MFL which is Uni's and jobs may pick the person with the language. What I want to know is that if I ace my other subjects, will good Unis still pick me? Im aiming to get into Imperial College for some sort of engineering. All my other subjects should go well with some revision. For those who want to know my IGCSEs im taking with what im aiming and A LEVELS I want to take, look below. IGCSE English Lang/Lit: B IGCSE Maths: A* IGCSE Bio/Phy/Chem: A*'s GCSE Product Design: A* IGCSE ICT: A* IGCSE Geography: B IGCSE German: U As you can see, I reckon I could get 6A*'s, 2 B's and a U What i want to take for A LEVELS: Maths, further maths, product design, computing and Physics Do you guys think if i dropped German I would get a place in a good Uni?

Hey Andrew Wu,

I think that you will definately get a good place (as long as your other grades are really good). All that German is probably going to do for you is increase you job opportunities...that's really useful in this time (especially with UK's economic crisis..it would be advisable to work abroad) and even if you don't leave the country after Uni, then German's going to make you a 'better' paid employee. I mean when it comes to job tranfers and all.....

.....If I were in your shoes, which I am (only I don't know if you hate it as much as I do) I would stick with it...for future's sake......I know it's dead and all but it would be kinda better for you.....(sorry 4 sounding lyk a grandma)...Anyway considering your A'Level subjects, an international language would be very helpful..

Good luck an' I think that if you're teacher says that you've got potential then you clearly do so maybe you can still try to get a B in the least...(considering you're potential genius 6A*....maybe a U would look reeeaaaalllllllly bad)..gOOD LUCK!
