Public Speaking Tips?

I am in year 12 and I'm doing speeches in assembly to help my chances of being chosen as Head Boy next year. Is there anyone who has general advice on public speaking?

practice your speech before hand just to make sure you know what to say so you're not looking down at the paper all the time. Try to speak at a normal pace- when you're up there you'll probably start reading really fast but make sure you take a deep breath and say each word clearly. Whilst you are reading make sure you pause in the right places as this can make your speech sound a little more professional. Look around and try to make a connection with the audience, but dont just stare a one person!

Good luck with the speech and hope this helps :)

Well make sure you don't rush your words. Just take a deep breath and read slowly. Keep calm and try to speak as clearly as possible - don't mumble.

Good luck.
