Psychology or Chemistry degree!?!?!?!? :(

Okay so I'm coming to the end of my first year at college and will be applying to university soon...

Hopefully I'll get onto a medicine degree first time round, however I need a back up degree which will lead me into doing medicine at degree entry..

I can't decide between psychology and chemistry..

I'm really passionate about psychology but what if I find it too easy?

And I quite like chemistry and I'd like to push myself that bit further with it, but what if it's too hard and I do really bad in it?

But maybe chemistry will look better and more relevant when I apply to medicine at degree level...

OKAY I know people who have taken psychology,WELL LOADS of people who have taken psychology ,and they have a masters in it.well currently mos of them are unemployed and any jobs (that don't require much )don't take them on because they are far to over qualified,so options now are ---well--teaching. EVERYONE SEEMS to be taking psychology now-a-days...and you'll be stuck....

Anyone that will take me! :D

I'm just finishing off my GCSEs at the moment so see how it goes with the results etc. I like the London Universties - but apparently they are highly competitive! So yeah :)

I know it sounds silly but i would take Chemistry rather than follow the path you really like because Chemistry is highly prized and therefore good to fall back on :D

Yh veryy true baaayyyy! im applyin for medicine (just finished AS), but if u r tyrin to get in threr by degree the one that looks most enticing to universities is chemistry becuz it is firstly way harder than psycology, second it has a lot of synoptic  infromatiion which gets u used to medicine in uni, also it shows u can handle a lot of work ===> so it looks really gud

unfortunatley i dont know much about psycology but for me i wuld have chosen chemistry but im not so sure about psycology coz i have no experience in it so i wuldnt want to give u false information

anyway hope u get into medicine n hope i helped ***

Oh cool we're both wannabe medics! Well as you already know medicine is massively competitive - its something like 10 applicants to 1 place (not very accurate but you get the idea lol). Think about why you want to do medicine, if you don't get in - lets say that you don't have enough experience or something. You can always apply next year and in that year volunteer and gain loads of experience so you have your mind set. Why do another course that takes up how many years when you want to do medicine anyway? You'll rank up a serious amount of debt lol.

I guess it up to your own personal decision. Medicine is like a life-long career and you are constantly learning - so you have to be sure that you are all for it! Good luck! ;)

Wow! I wasn't expecting such a massive reply, thanks guys :D

Then more I think about it, the more I'm been convinced to do Chemistry,

I guess it would be a lot of work but it'd definately be worth it :3

Priya & Beelal, hey! Which universities are you thinking about doing medicine at?:)
