Politics at A-level ?

Showing 1 to 25 of 104

These are subjects I am interested in doing for A-levels.. Maths, Chemistry, Politics and English (lit and lang). How do they sound ?

I also want to know if anyone does politics in A-level and how it is like.. what sort of things do you cover.. is it interesting ? etc ;

thank you **

Definitely do maths, chemistry and English lit and lang because they will be good for whatever job you do :) I really wouldn't do politics because I think it would just be so incredibly boring but if you find it interesting then do it! Got any back-up options in mind??

i definetly don't want to do biology, coz i find it too hard, n physics im not that interested so my back up would be another humanity subject instead, so geography / history or economics ?

I do geography for a level, I really enjoy it but there is a lot of work so you need to keep on top of it all.

Yeah those subjects sound good :) I'd probably go for history. And yeah I am doing the three sciences and maths - it's okay, I like biology, chemistry and maths but physics is confusing!! Chemistry is really good though!

I am still thinking about what humanity subject to take for a-levels. I need to put down my four subjects by next week and I was wondering which should I do from, geography, history, politics and economics..

These are my other options.. Chemistry, Maths and English (lit and lang)

I have no specific career I wish to do, and therefore would like to keep my options as open as possbile. Therefore which do you think is best and why ? Plus if you do any of them, can you give your views on the subject.. do u enjoy it ?? why / why not ? thnx

geography is great, it links with the real world (sorry sounds cheesy) and i find it really interesting. it isn't a soft option and you have to work hard, but if you enjoy it, you find that it isn't really too much hard work, if you get what i mean :)

Thnx Thegirlwhoknewtoomuch . I kind of want to do geography now.. I don't know..

Which one would keep my options more at uni, or which looks better..

Chemistry, Maths and English (lit and lang) and Geography or

Chemistry, Maths and English (lit and lang) and Politics

I'm kind of worried bwt doin politics coz its a brand new topic n i didn't do citizenship at gcse..

Geography was easy at GCSE pretty much, and people I've spoken to about geography at AS level say it's easy! Obviously it isn't really easy, it's just easier compared to other A levels. I think you should go for geography because it keeps your options a bit more open compared to politics. Plus, you get to go on trips to do coursework and stuff which sounds fun :)

Thanks..Joanne

I am just thinking, because I am doing gcse geography at the moment and I am enjoying it as well, whereas politics it's a brand new topic, I don't even do citizenship for gcse.. so it might be harder than geography..

thank you !!

Yeah go for geography - you can always drop it next year, but it's got to be more interesting than politics because you can go on field trips! Plus my friends say that politics is hard but boring, and they chose it becasue they wanted to do it!

ahah field trips wont persuade me ;) but yh thanks. I think I will go for geography and make politics or history my back up subject..

Posted: 01-11-12 17:32 by ? Secret - Team GR

Yeah history is good, even though I'm not doing it, all my friends that are like it.

How are you going at the moment in as level.. ? you doing like the most difficult subjects possible..

Posted: 01-11-12 17:38 by ? Secret - Team GR

Yeah and they are! Biology is good, chemistry just got very confusing, physics was always complicated and maths just went from okay to arghhhh!

Posted: 01-11-12 18:18 by Joanne

Aww, are you happy with your options or do you regret any ?

Posted: 01-11-12 20:38 by ? Secret - Team GR

Well I don't regret any, because there's no other subjects I would have done - physics and maths are hard though :/ Chemistry is at times, but biology is quite good :) They're all hard so be prepared is all I can say.

Aw thanks for the advice.. they may be hard, but they will be worth it at the end :)

I would do chemistry, maths, english and geography, it seems you enjoy geography and in my experience things i enjoy i do well at. also, geography is counted as a science subject so it will do well with chemistry. I've heard politics is quite hard and a bit boring. :)

Thank you.. for your advice..

At first I wanted to do politics coz everyone in my family i.e. my brother/cuzins/uncle did it.. but then I was thinkin, if I am doing it mainly coz everyone else did it.. its actually kind of stupid.. whereas if i did a subject like geography which im into.. then i will hoepfully benefit more and do much better in..

aw thanks, well done for remembering, and yes do a subject you enjoy, i almost made the mistake of doing business for a level cause everyone else is doing it, so glad i didn't apparently it's really hard. I'd stick with geography.
