Ruby the cat eats 3/5 (fraction) tin of cat food each day.

What is the least number of tins that need to be brought in any one week?

You would need 5 tins because:

In 1 day she eats 3/5 of a tin

In 2 days she eats 1 tin and 1/5 of a tin

In 3 days she eats 1 tin and 4/5 of a tin

In 4 days she eats 2 tins and 2/5 of a tin

In 5 days she eats 3 tins

In 6 days she eats 3 tins and 3/5 of a tin

In 7 days she eats 4 tins and 1/5 of a tin

Therefore you would need 5 tins

I hope you understand if you are still stuck just comment and I will reply :)

okay all you have to do is,

3/5 x 7 = 21/5

now that will become 4 whole tins and 1/5 extra in terms of mixed fractions. therefore you will need 5 tins because you cant just use 4.

i hope that makes sense :D
