I've just moved to the UK from Australia , and will be starting year 9 in about 2 weeks or so , and was wondering whether anyone could explain the kind of tests to be expecting and coursework and other general studies? Any help would be appreciated :)
It should be pretty relaxed, laying down the foundation for years 10 and 11 and GCSEs. There'll probably be just a few tests in maths, english and science at the end of the year just to see how everyone is getting on. Good luck with it all! :)

year 9 isn't too stressed with coursework and exams unless you do some gcse's early. usually its just end of topic tests to track your progress and a end of year exam which is only to decide what sets you will be in for gcse english maths and science, your teachers tell you what to expect for these and give you loads of help as they know its your first real exam. you will be fine
Some schools do some GCSE work in this year, but there won't been too much pressure or anything. It is just preparing you for GCSE studies really. You will probably get end of year tests which will just be based on any work you learn throughout the year. You might get projects to do now and again too. But nothing too difficult or stressful.
