A roller coated with insulating material is given a charge.

A strong light is used to form an image of the page to be copied onto the roller.

Where light hits the roller, the charge flows to earth.

The charge left on the roller attracts particles of black toner powder.

The toner powder sticks to a sheet of paper producing a photocopy.

The words in bold were the words i had to filll in :)

Sorry it is photoconducting - I just looked it up. The roller is coated with a photoconducting material.

A photoconductor is an insulator in the dark but a conductor in light.
