Well no, just because you've been graded grade 5 doesn't mean you cant play anything higher, as long as the sixth form or college do auditions and you show that you can play something, there shouldn't be any reason why not.. But when I auditioned for Btec Performing Arts, I chose to do something easy that I know i'm really good at, and I got it, So it's better to play something at your level really well, than choose to do something hard and make more mistakes :) **

You need grade 5 or above and grade 5 theory!

as long as the piece you play is at least a grade 5, keep it simple but play it well!! better you laying soemthing really good and simple than like a grade 6 piece that you mayy slip up on. do worry about what grade! just make sure u are always practising too, 30 mins a day can make a huge difference.

To get the highest level you can get, playing a grade 6 or above piece is normally recommended. With Grade 5, I think you'll be fine. Just play it to the best ability you can, and make sure you squeeze everything out of the music. Like the dynamics and such. :) Hope you do well x

Depends on the exam board. For OCR, which I took, it was grade 4 for AS and 6 for A2, minimum.

Grade 5 should be OK, depending on the exam board. It is important though that you have (at least) grade 5 theory and that when you perform the piece, you really make a good performance out of it; like really showing dynamics, articulation and character
