Is Further maths a good subject to take and is it difficult?

I have to choose my options for A-Levels and I'm really not sure. Is Further maths anything like GCSE Statistics?

omg ur just like me! i recently choose to do biology, chemistry, physics and maths mechanics.

but yesterday i changed my maths option to further maths. i am to be honest quite worried. but do what i did, talk to the head of  6th form for advise, ther r really quite helpful, they provided me with meetings with head of maths and also are organising to get me the further maths book earlyier to use during summer.

To be honest, it will be hard. everything will be in a level. but the truth is that, u can achieve everything with effort. just give it ur all during sixth form xD

I'm having the same problem! I want to do bio, chem, maths and history, but my maths teacher really also wants me to do further maths! What are you guys thinking of doing as a career?

and further maths is this. basically its contains: mechanics 1 and 2, statistics 1 and 2. so basically it covers nearly all the areas in maths u can take as options xD its hard but, its worth 2 A LEVELS!

All A-levels are hard to be honest.. I chose all three sciences and math as well i think is a good A-Level and will help you a lot in the future.. :) x

I was thinking of doing in but check with the unis first, because for some degrees (like medicine) they'd prefer you to have a wider range of a levels than 3 sciences and further maths.. But in the end of the day, do want you'll do best in! :)

For medicine you could do:

Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths.

With those A-levels you can still do Medicine.

Well if u want u can still do further maths in stead of physics because i was recently lookin at BMAT's and UKCAT's and there is a bit of physics involved but its mechanics which is what u learn wen u do further maths so it is hard but if u think u can do it then go for it. Further maths contains statistics and it is way harder then GCSE but generally it is just the jump from GCSE to A level which is the hardest and once u overcome that then the topics will be easy as well ! Anyway gud luk !!
