I am, not really sure what we have to learn though, I have my mock tomorrow so hopefully it will give an idea. I guess you need to know the basics really, pasta- carbohydrate, function in the body etc. Oh yer, our teacher took ages going through different types of pasta so i'm guessing we will probably have to name a couple and their uses, like conchiglie (the shell pasta with ripples.) It is good for dishes with sauces as the shell and ripples hold the sauce well. As well as that the usual- Producing a product, to suit certain needs of the consumer etc.

hello, yer just done it today, found it kind of easy the questions were: designing 2 types of pasta dishes, using pasta as the main ingredient.. it had to contribute to the 5 a day scheme and have a sauce. Then they said name 2 nutrients your product has and give their function in the body. Then they gave you some data collected about ready meals and you had analyse it (nothing hard though.. just what was  most popular in 2005 - which was clearly shown in the table!) There were some some products and u said how u could make them healthier. i cant really remember much more except what really must of been the hardest question- what are  concerns about the use of GM foods.. or something like that. really not hard. and yer i didn't revise but still found it easy so well..   i was a little stretched for time though (spent too long on designing.. got excited because i was colouring in :D  don't listen to the time indicators on each question as you get to the end... one said take 18 mins and i did it in 2.

it wasn't an official mock though.. i think it was a specimen paper. in yr 10 so why i'm doing my 'mock' now.

Look at http://web.aqa.org.uk/admin/qp-ms_finder.php?id=01 and http://web.aqa.org.uk/admin/qp-ms_finder.php?id=01

They aren't for pasta dishes but some things that they are ask you after the designing of products are quite similar. I've been using these as a base for revision and I would also recommend learning what different nutrients do and their sources. Also, what the percentages of different types of food are on the eatwell plate :)

Hope this helps :)

yeah i mean if we just learn a few key vegetables etc, with their nutrients, we can put them into whatever dishes we choose to design. ^ and thank you kate this should really help, im starting revision for this exam on saturday but i have quite a few days off of school before our exam so i am quite lucky, still only  have one two hour tech lesson left.. the friday before our exam :O
