Is active uptake the same as active transport?

I'm trying to answer an IGCSE question about the uptake of minerals by the roots but I'm not sure if I'm talking about active transport or uptake. Please help!

They are the same thing:

The movement of a substance across a semi-permeable membrane, against the concentration gradient. This uses more energy than diffusion or osmosis.

I always use 'active transport' but I think either are fine!

Hope this helps :D
