Im doing a past paper to revise for the resit on 13th June, and I'm stuck on a question:

Question 8:

A book has 120 pages. The mean number of words per page for the whole book is 231. The mean number of words per page for the first 20 pages is 236.

Calculate the mean number of words per page for the other 100 pages.

You just need to think it out a bit.
Firstly, there are 120 pages in the entire book (you can highlight this in the exam)?

If the mean number of words per page is 231, then you would multiply this number the number of pages. (231x120) is the total number of words in the book.

For the first 20 pages , the mean number of words per page is 236.
You need to multiply (20x236). This is the total number of words on the first 20 pages.

Subtract your two numbers to get the total number of words on the last 100 pages.
The mean would be this number divided by 100.
