I am about to study psychology at university. I was studying sociology, ICT and Psychology at A level and got grade AAD. I already got accepted at University to study Psychology Bsc. I want to be a clinical neuropsychologist but I do not know whether psychology is the right foundation.

Hi Tate,

It will take a lot of study to become a clinical neuropsychologist as you are required to qualify as en educational psychologist (about 3 years of study at postgraduate level) and then take additional study modules after then to specialise, so this will require at least 7 years of study if not longer given how competitive it can be to get onto an educational psychology course.

The first route to this aim is to ensure that the undergrad degree you're doing is accredited by the British Psychological Society (not all of them are) as this will keep your options open for the future. You'll probably find that your interests will change as you progress through your undergraduate years but for any further study or work in psychology, you need to ensure you're studying for an accredited degree as otherwise it will require additional study after graduation.

You did the same subjects as I am doing and I am going on to do pysch.

Your choice is fine, like Emma said as long as its accredited by the BPS.

It will require quite alot of extra training - but if its something you want to do - its really worth it.

To look at how to get into it exactly, look at the BPS website under the careers section.

Good luck!
