I've got a group of data and know the median, i need to work out the upper and lower quartiles but i cant use cumulative frequency. I'm looking at the gross profit of films and how its changed over time, and am going to compare it using a box plot but dont know how to work out quartiles.

The upper and lower quartiles are found calculating 1/4 and 3/4 of the total frequency.
