How do you work out enthalpy change of formation?

q=MC delta T

q=enthalpy change
M=mass of substance
C=specific heat capacity of water (4.2kj)
T=temperature
delta just means change so delta T is temperature change

Also, when using standard enthalpies of combustion, enthalpy change= reactants - products

 when using standard enthalpies of formation, enthalpy change = products - reactants
