How do you compare a poem (my last duchess) and a play (othello)?

I have a controlled assessment piece which tells me to compare the two pieces of text; the poem and the play and I was just looking for some ways in which they can be compared and contrasted?

i haven't studied 'othello' but i have studied 'my last duchess', so i don't know how much help i'll be...

look for similar/opposing themes - 'my last duchess' involves possession and objectification of women, power of men and status so if there's anything in 'othello' that relates to that, that could be a very valid point

look at the language - 'my last duchess' uses euphemisms to not explicitly say what happened to his wife. is othello like this or everything very obvious in the language? also things may seem obvious, but when analysing the words/phrases the poet or Shakespeare may be saying something else

compare and contrast the personalities and views of the characters - the duke with othello, the duchess with desdemona...

sparknotes is pretty helpful when it comes to themes and analysis

hope i helped :)
