How do you annotate a score effectively ?

I struggle with that too! Try to highlight the score and then condense your notes into a mind map! That way you don't have to think of the score when you're writting the essay and it's less scary!

I found using different colours really helped, for example i'd use one colour for all annotations about cadences, another for melody ect... that way it makes it easier to find information quickly. Also, make sure you listen to the music a lot whilst following it on the score, you'll find it much easier to remember that way :) hope this helps, good luck x
