I'm doing an essay that has a word limit of 1500words and I have just gone over 1000 and need to write so much more yet, please tell me any ways to reduce the amount of words i use, even if it is just removing a few words. thanks

Look at ech paragraph you have written so far analytically. Are you explaining the same point more thn once - if so cut this down. Are you spending time describing rather than analysing? If so how much of the description is necessary? Then look at whether the points you are making in different paragraphs are similar, if they are, merge the two paragraps - rather than using PEE use Point Example, Example, Explain if this is possible.

Check whether going over the word limit will have an impact on your marks - sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't - and then if it is going to negatively impact on you, order your points in importance and take out those which are less relevant.

Hope this helps a bit.

You should fully write out everything you need first, no matter how long it is, and then once you're done, go back through it and try to cut out information that you don't need. Try to link similar ideas together to reduce the amount of paragraphs you have and hence how much you write.

Look through each paragraph and you might find you can replace some short sentences and phrases with single words. This will shorten everything. Also look for any irrelevant sentences or things that you don't really need.

Checking with your teachers will be the best option like you said.

Emily Irvine thanks yeah going over the word limit does effect my overall grade quite a lot! I have tried to cut as many words as I can out it's just really hard at this stage to know what i need and what i don't, i'm going to get my teachers to read through it and see if they can see anything that needs cutting out
