Here's all you need to know about the exam technique and timings :) i hope it helps x

The questions

·         Q1A (4 Marks)

o    Aim to spend 4 minutes on this one

o    It’s the same as Q1 on unit 3 but worth less marks

o    You need to make at least 1 supported inferences (a point backed up with a quote)

o    Try to make 2 points if you’re aiming for the top marks

·          Q1B (6 Marks)

o    Aim to spend about 8 minutes on this one

o    It’ll ask you to ‘describe the key features’

o    You need to write at least two developed points

o    It is very similar to the 6 mark question in unit 1

·          Q1C (8 Marks)

o    Try to spend about 12 minutes on this

o    You need to ‘explain the effects of…’

o    You need to write at least two explained points

o    To get the top marks you need to make links between effects

·          Q1D (8 Marks)

o    Spend about 12 minutes on it

o    You need to ‘explain why…’

o    You have to write about at least 2 causes/ reasons and explain them

o    To get 8 marks you need to make a decision about which was the most important

·          Q2 (8 Marks)

o    You have a choice of questions. You need to answer Q2A OR 2B. DO NOT ANSWER BOTH!!!

o    Spend about 12 minutes on this one

o    It’ll ask you to ‘explain why/how’

o    Write at least two explained points

o    Link points to get the best marks

·          Q3 (16 Marks)

o    You have a choice of questions. You need to answer Q3A OR 3B. DO NOT ANSWER BOTH!!!

o    Make sure you have enough time for this one, at least 25 minutes

o    It’ll give you a reason for a certain outcome and ask you if that was the most important reason

o    You are given 4 factors.

o    You need to write about at least 3 of the factors but try to write about all 4, just to be safe.

o    You need to make a judgement about which was the most important factor. You also need to try to link factors to get the top marks
