yeah it is and winter is the best time to do it cause of the long nights, but the weather has been rubbish recently. there was a nmeteor shower over the weekend which i missed, but that was because i was too tired to get up at 5am to watch it.XD

Posted: 21-11-12 18:07 by ? Secret - Team GR

um it wasn't on tv it was outside and it would have been freezing, there was frost that morning

Posted: 21-11-12 18:09 by Thegirlwhoknewtoomuch - Team GR

woops .. outside that just makes it worse..early in the mornin is the coldest time.. especially wen u hve to get out of ur cosy bed XD

Posted: 21-11-12 18:10 by ? Secret - Team GR

yep thats the point but you can only watch this one in the morning, if it was in the evening i would watch it even if it was cold. last winter, i took my telescope out when it was frosty and it started to frost up on the outside, luckily didn't get to the mirrors inside though.

Your stargazing sound awesome - I want to be an astrogeologist so it really interests me!

it's a great hobby to do, even better in the winter cause even thiugh it rains more when it is clear the sky is clearer, do you have a telescope?

Posted: 23-11-12 18:51 by Thegirlwhoknewtoomuch - Team GR

I do, but its not very good.

what type is it? mines a 5 inch reflector, got it 2 years ago for my birthday, my friends don't seem to understand why i would want one. :(

Posted: 23-11-12 19:07 by Thegirlwhoknewtoomuch - Team GR

I'm not that sure - I got it years ago (also for my birthday) - I think I was about 11 when I got it.

It's quite little probably about 3 inches wide and about 70cm long.

what have you seen with it? i think you can see planets with that size. this is actually my second telescope, my first one was a small one 50cm. it wasn't really for stargazing it was just a toy, i got it before i was interested in astronomy, but it was very good at looking at the moon with, i still use it to do that with it. did you see the leonids meteor shower last weekend?

Posted: 23-11-12 19:14 by Thegirlwhoknewtoomuch - Team GR

wow that is so freaky you guys sort of have the same cover

Posted: 23-11-12 19:16 by aliimz

I have looked at the moon many times - you get a pretty clear image and you can see the surface of the moon quite well.

I could see jupiter and venus quite well as couple of months ago.

I didn't see the shower = [ but I stay up for hours to watch an eclipse of the moon a little while back - it was a freezing cold night.

I'M SOOO JEALOUS i really want to see a lunar eclipse, the last one i almost got to see but it clouded over just before :( I didn't see it either (it was cloudy again) but I've seen lots of meteor showers before the last one I saw was the quadrantids meteor shower in january, I got up a little earlier for school and I saw 45 in 1hr, and i wasn't even outside I was leaning out the bedroom window. I've seen jupiter and its moons a few months back too, and I've seen venus, mars and saturn.

aliimz haha, I know. i was thinking of changing it soon.

Wow - I'd love to see Saturn - It's my favourite planet lol.

The eclipse was great - but it took forever!!! I was sat in my garden for ages - but it did look great!
