Has anyone got any resources on COMMODITIES for a catering exam?

I have no clue what a commodity even is so I need some help. If anyone has flash cards or revision notes on the topic it would be much appreciated.

Hi :) I have a feeling a commodity is when the ingredient comes ready prepared so that you don't have to prepare it yourself, but I could be wrong. If so , it saves a food manufacturer time and money because they do not need to buy machines to prepare those ingredients. Hope this helped a bit!
