Has anyone got any good, general quotes for either Frnkenstein, Doctor Faustus or the Bloody Chamber?

I'm doing these texts, and was wondering if anyone could just give me some quote to learn that could be used generally in any question. Such as "my more than sister" from Frankenstein.
Thanks.

Hi, have got some good quotes for  Frankenstein, but not the other two.

  • "It was the secrets of heaven and earth that I desired to learn"- Victor Frankenstein during his studies into his creation, the romantic ideal that Shelley uses here (his extreme passion for science). Frankenstein as a scientist, tests the liminal boundaries of God being the ONLY creator of life or the maker of death.
  • "I was wretched, helpless and alone. Many times I considered Satan as the fitter emblem of my condition"- as a society outcast, creature associates himself with Lucifer the fallen angel in John Milton's Paradise Lost (Satan), heavily referenced throughout the novel, as a being that has fallen from grace, into Hell, where it carries out the horrible murders.
  • "Cursed, cursed creator! Why did I live? Why, in this instant, did I not extinguish the spark of existence which you had so wantonly bestowed?"- Creature's anguish towards Frankenstein for his existence. He has been rejected by his creature and society, and thus feels hatred for his father's abandoning and neglect.
  • "I shall be with you on your wedding night"- creature's haunting words to Frankenstein, as he vows to make his life unbearable by killing Elizabeth, and all others that he holds dear.

Hope these extracts help, I have used all of them in some way, in practice essays as they are easy to develop and discuss. Good luck with the revision!
