I am doing GCSE English Literature (AQA).

Does anyone know whether we have to learn all 15 poems or the three main ones for the poetry exam? I am doing Conflict so the three main poems are Belfast Confetti, next to of course god america i and The Yellow Palm.

Please reply asap as I have my exam next week and I got a band 2/3 in my mock. smiley - sadface (http://www.bbc.co.uk/dnaimages/boards/images/emoticons/f_sadface.gif)

PS Any top tips much appreciated! smiley - smiley (http://www.bbc.co.uk/dnaimages/boards/images/emoticons/f_smiley.gif)

well you can cut down to learning 12.. we got tipped by our teacher that Flag, The Right Word and The Falling Leaves will NOT be named in the exam, so you don't have to learn them :) We've been advised to learn one poem in and out, so that even if it's not named, we can compare it to anything (i.e. i've learned Poppies as well as i could, so if the question contains Out of the Blue or something i can compare them easily). But you should still be familiar with the rest.

Hope this helps, and good luck with the exam! :) x

i did this exam last year, to be safe i would say learn the all, they often do choose the main poems and would not bother with little ones and then you can compare them to whichever poem you like, but to be safe learn them all **

BBC Bitesize has really good notes on the poems, i am doing the place cluster and got most my notes from bbc bitesize, it should be the same for Conflict! Good Luck! :)
