f(x) = 3x/x+1 - x+7/x^2-1 show that f(x) = 3 - 4/x-1

Question in exam style paper of edexcel c3 book i keep getting 3x=7/x-1  ..anyone able to do it cheers

I think there may be an error in your textbook (there often are!). I did it and got f(x)=(3x-7)/(x-1). I also just put it into wolfram alpha, and it also gave me that as an alternative form, but not 3-4/(x-1). If I were you I wouldn't worry about it, then just check it with your teacher after the holidays.
