Further Maths or EPQ?

Hey everyone!

I can't decide whether to do further maths for AS or an EPQ. I got an A* in maths and an A in additional maths for GCSE and now I'm taking  Maths, bio, chem and history for AS and am thinking of doing medicine as a career.

I've heard that further maths is really hard and a lot of work load, but I want to know how beneficial it is over an EPQ. Will it be worth it or will it be too much of a strain on top of my other subjects?

I am just starting year 12, and haven't been informed on the EPQ completely, and how it compared to AS level. However, I have heard that they do not count Maths and Further maths as 2 seperate AS levels for medicine. I am also trying for medicine, but took Further maths as I enjoy it and wouldn't mind going for Acturial science instead, apart from that there is no advantages of taking Further maths AS level if you're sure you will go for medicine :) Hope this helps

An EPQ is a brilliant way to make you stand out and it is something you can mention in your personal statement. It shows universities that you can work independently and have reserach skills. If you want a career in medicine then make it medicine related. It is also a brilliant thing to bring up in an interview :) Definitely the EPQ option in my opinion!!!
