Explain why windy conditions increase water loss

The wind blows off water from the surface of the leaf. This increases the concentration gradient of water between inside and outside the plant. Therefore, water goes down the concentration gradient and leaves the plant by diffusion (i dont think it's osmosis as there is no partially permeable membrane)

air movement is disperse the humid layer on the leaf surface. water potenial in air decreases, water potentail gradient inceases, and therefore so does the rate of transpiration
