if your doing action adventure films its good to watch films such as the river wild as it is unconventional and you can refer to it in the exam :)

I've got OCR, boy do they like vague questions. They like to ask the same question several times in a slightly different way. Urgh.

Last year I did Sitcoms and suspense/horror films

I got an A* in my coursework but an A overall so if anyone needs help, feel free to ask (I can't promise I'll remember everything though!) :)

I too am doing this exam in the summer. Really worried because we only get two weeks before hand which is when we get the previsional material. So is revising the conventions of action and adventure enough? or?.. Help appreciated :)

Hey, I'm new and I'm doing AS level media, i think its OCR and we have to do a cross media section on the spy genre, like James Bond. I am having a real hard time understanding the key terms, anyone have any ideas on how to revise them?

Any suggestions will be great

thankz

Does anybody know where i can fidn some past exam papers for media AQA? And whats this new AQA Answer book layout?

Posted: 03-05-11 11:45 by James Reid

I cannot find any past papers as they change the topic every year and this year they are doing 'action adventure', I looked on the AQA website but they are past papers which are different. You should ask your teacher as they should have a draft copy of what it looks like!

I've been taught a lot about behind the movies as apparently it could come up or talking about it can get you more marks when used correctly-

A key this is 'Marketing' Under this title is

Genre

Movie Stars

Big Director

Paper Views

Advertising

These all create a 'need to see'. However, is a lot of money to spend on it.. but thats how they get the profit. Marketing can cost 15 million per film (This does not include the film price)

Distrubutors

Who? How? Why? do you get your audience.

Audience for an individual film- as most people know what they want to see before going to the cinema (This meaning advertising has succeeded)

Unique Selling Point - A Hook (Unique idea)

E.g Jaws- Shark that kills from people from beach

Captain Jack - One bullet in his gun

Lara Croft- A female heroin

British Board Film Classification decide what rating the film is

4 things to help rate a film is

Violence

Sex and Nudity

Bad Language

Taste + Density

Hope this all helps :)
