Essay writing tips?

how do you structure your essays for the essay questions in the exam? i know that the structures important to get those high grades and i have no idea whatsoever!

I feel the same :| but I just found this on some random site.. hope it helps :D x

 Before you write, plan. Write down every point you want to put into your essay, but in abbreviations so that you don't waste too much time planning. You should know around 5 quotes for this answer, and it should be around 3-4 pages long.

Introduction:
Sum up all the points that you wrote down in the plan, and basically everything you know on this character/theme/relationship, but make sure it's a nicely put summery.

Body:
Expand on all your points above! Many questions will look probably for some kind of progression of the character/theme/relationship, and you will need to learn the progression before hand.
(It would be easier for the examiner to mark a progression which is written chronologically)
If it's a "purpose of character" question, you can look at certain aspects of the character (for example their actual character, their effects on certain themes, certain progressions of other characters and their overall impact on the play/novel and how it would be different without them).

Conclusion:
Summerise what you have written again, and state your own opinion to the question.
