English lit and Lang vs English lit?

  • 0 votes

I am predicted As in both English lit and Lang at gcse so I am equally alright at both so I'm finding it difficult to choose which a level to take.. My school has a choice of either English lit or English lit and Lang at a level. Would really appreciate any information that would help me choose the best subject. Is it true units value English lit more? And do you have to produce speeches in English Lang? Any advice is really appreciated, thanks.

I do english lit and got an A at gcse. It's really demanding (as is any A level) and I am currently working at B/C. I also do economics, maths and law and find English to be my most time consuming subject. Not to put you off, I just dont feel as confident now as I did at gcse, its a huuuge change. I have a friend who does combined and she equally finds it challenging. If by speeches you presentations, I'm not sure if it was her who said she had to do a ten minute presentation :P. And yes, I believe lit is more "valuable", depends what you want to do at uni I suppose.

No problem :) economics involves some maths but they're really simple equations to remember so there's nothing to worry about. And honestly, I don't enjoy my lessons lol I find them quite dull, but now that I'm revising for my exams next month I'm actually enjoying it and finding it interesting. I dont think its horrifically challenging once you start doing your independent studying (compared to my other subs). Good luck.
