Edexcel SNAB unit 1... anyone doing this??

Showing 1 to 15 of 15

I was just wondering if anyone is doing the same syllabus as me. I am taking my exam in May. Would be nice if anyone is doing the same and wanted to chat. x

Hey, I'm doing SNAB :) How's the revision going? Biology is probably the subject I find hardest and I'm dropping it for A2 so not looking forward to this exam too much :/

Well I've not even started revising. I wish I could drop but I really need Biology at A level (full) and I'm studying it privately at home so it would be such a waste of money if I dropped. I'm finding it difficult too... its not the biology aspect of it though, its the chemistry (molecules etc). I'm really no good at chem. How is your revision going? What core practicals have you done so far? I am writing mine up at the minute but I am trying to find someone to compare my results with as I am unsure if the experiments went as they should.**

I must admit, the biochemistry part is the part I find the hardest too. Personally, i think the SNAB textbook is a bit rubbish so I've bought/borrowed a few general A Level textbooks and picked the parts I've needed and its been quite helpful. CGP do a book called 'head start to biology' which has the stuff from GCSE which you need for A level which might be helpful too. In terms of core practicals, I've done most of them but not written any up which is sort of a worry because I'm really behind with it all :(

Hey Ethan...

That would be amazing... its the whole biochemistry thing I am struggling with and the core practical write ups. I am 19 (20 next month) studying at home privately so I am not at school or college. I've done my unit one experiments but I don't have any results to compare to so not sure if things went as they should. keep in touch **

Im also doing this topic, well i took it back in January and got anE.... so I am retaking in May, but i am still none the wiser in the topic......................=/

Don't be disheartened Melissa I'm sure things will work out. What books have you got? Have you got a good revision guide? I'm currently using the CPG but I think its really quiet appalling so I'm relying on the SNAB student book, which isn't that brilliant either.

I have my unit one exam in may... I am really anxious as I am struggling with revision. It doesn't help that I have to revise for business studies and psychology too... to top it all off I am studying at home privately so I don't the support network that I would have if I were at college.

Have you done your core practicals for unit one, these being:

  • The effects of enzyme concentration on rate of reaction
  • The effects of temperature on membrane permeability
  • The effects of caffeine on the heart rate of daphnia
  • Determination of vitamin C in food

Just a quick shout out to anyone... would anyone be so kind to share their experiment results with me as I don't know if my experiments have gone as they should. Additionally I have no clue as to how to write up the practicals to send to edexcel for marking. Anyone willing to share with me what I should include in writing them up. Mostly though, I am desperate to find results to compare with!!!!

If anyone wants to message me personally I am willing to give you my email address.**

Hey Sarah,

Have a read through my replies and see if you think we could help each other. It would be really lovely to have people to study with over the net etc. **
